A very nice looking R51/2 from one of my web page readers in Hungary. At first glance you might think this is a later Heinrich /2 lower fairing made of fiberglass... But not so, according to the label on the back. .... and they say only Harleys make good looking choppers. ;-) An accessory that you don't see too often is a set of Magura clubman bars. Here is an NOS example that still includes the installation instructions (the dark brown paper) and the German TUV certification (the white papers). Even without all the stickers and papers Magura bars are easy to identify, because the Magura name is stamped into them just above the left (in this photo) side 'point'. Pardon me if I take the next few photos to tell you a story that I think you will enjoy. There once was a fellow that took great pleasure in beating up a BMW engine case - with a hammer! ...but if you look closely, you'll see that these serial numbers indicate an R68 - too precious a case to waste! ...and since the frame & ID tag matched the case, the new owner set about repairing the damage. First he carefully cut up a donor case for the missing parts... .... then he brought it to a TRUSTED friend to weld - with just a few love notes on the case as reminders... ....and in no time at all, it looked as good as new. I was amazed when I first saw this series of photos, and asked the owner if I could share them, because I knew you would be too. |
