My first R69S, a 1962. What you can't see in the photo is the fact that the left cylinder was KNOCKED off the engine in an accident! Sold to me "as-is".... no foolin. It became a parts doner bike. A beautiful Steib S501 sidecar fender finished in Granada red. A really nice 1961 R50S that belongs to vintage BMW club member Paul Meredith. An interesting looking tank, one of a style that I've never seen before. Someday I'll have an R50S as nice as this. A very desirable pre-war R17. This one has the art-deco style valanced fenders. Other then the post war headlight and (maybe) pillion seat, the bike is really all there and original. A beautiful bike with its deservedly proud owner. My buddy Phil Rose (aka "Phactory Phil") and his award winning 1969 R60/2. See more of Phil's bikes here. Worth another look. A nice view of the Hoske sport mufflers and the leather swing saddle with grab handle. Very tastefully done. My friend's R51/2 gas tank, just repainted and striped. If you need the name of a very good pin striper in the NJ area, drop me a note. He does excellent work! True unobtainium in the BMW world... Here's a nice photo of the crossover muffler for an R69. Only fitted on 1960 and 1961 R69 models - even many longtime BMW enthusiasts have never seen one outside of the parts book drawings. This muffler is NOS, and is finished in a simple near flat black finish. There must be a substantial baffle system inside, because its surprising heavy. A coffee cup with an interesting history. A US Army soldier brought home a few souvenirs from WWII. Written on the piece of tape on the side of the cup are the words "Cup from the Bavarian Motor Works factory, May 1945, Munich". Also brought back by the same GI was this WWII German helmet from the BMW factory. Painted a nice shade of blue, it's still in excellent condition. |
